Islam & Muslims
What is Islam?
Islam is the way of life revealed (the Quran) to Prophet Mohammad, practiced and taught by Prophet Mohammad (Sunnah).
Islam is the way of life (Deen) for all mankind in this world prescribed by the Creator (Allah). Our Creator has decreed in His final word (the Quran) that:
There is no compulsion in religion or Deen:
“There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.” (Chapter #2, Verse #256)
We are, what we strive for:
That man can have nothing but what he strives for; (Chapter #53, Verse #39)

Every prophet followed and invited others to Islam since Adam, the first man and the first prophet. Jesus Christ son of Mary –peace and blessings of Allah be upon him was prophet of Allah before the advent of Prophet Mohammad –peace be upon him.
Allah, Glorified is He, is the name of God Almighty, the Creator of each and every thing including us all. Allah is unique and only One, so is His name in Arabic –Allah. There is no plural, feminine or masculine gender of Allah.
Islam literally means “peace” and “submission”. Islam is to submit / surrender to the commands of our creator in all those matters that our creator has granted us freedom of choice. Muslim greetings have always been “As-Slaam-o-Alaikum” (Peace be upon you).
Many Muslims after completing their daily prayers (Salaah) say this supplication:
ALLAHUMMA ANTAS SALAAMU WA MINKAS SALAAMU HAYINA RABBANA BISSA LAAME WA AD KHILNA DAARASSALAAM TABARAKTA YA ZALJALALI WAL IKRAAM
O ALLAH! Thou art the author of peace and from thee comes peace and peace returns towards thee. Keep us alive with peace, and let us enter the house of peace. Blessed and exalted art thou o lord of glory and honor.
Who are Muslims?
A Muslim can be any person who believes in the fundamental beliefs of Islam. Any person who believes that there is only one God and Mohammad is the last and final Prophet of God, is a Muslim. Acceptance of Mohammad, son of Abdullah born at Mekka in the year of AD 632 as the last and final Prophet of Allah, requires accepting the revealed Word of God (the Quran) to Prophet Mohammad as the fundamental authority on beliefs. The Quran makes the example or model of Prophet Mohammad (his words, deeds and approved deed) Sunnah, which is living like the example of the prophet.
“And verily, (O Prophet) you are on an exalted Standard of Character.” (Suratul Qalam 68:4)
“And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it). And fear Allah; verily, Allah is Severe in punishment.” (Chapter #59, Verse #7)
